The Lockdown That Changed Everything

March 2020. The world stopped.

Gyms closed. Offices emptied. Kitchens became our entire world. And suddenly, millions of people were trapped at home, stress-eating their way through bags of chips, instant noodles, and whatever shelf-stable junk they could hoard.

We saw it happening. To our families. To our friends. To ourselves.

The pandemic didn’t just threaten our lungs — it wrecked our diets. With fresh food scarce and motivation low, convenience won. Processed snacks, sugary cereals, and empty calories became the default. People were gaining weight, losing energy, and feeling worse by the week.

We knew there had to be a better way.

The Answer Was Already in Our Blood

We’ve been in the seafood business for generations. Our grandparents dried fish on the coast. Our parents supplied fresh catch to local markets. Seafood — real, honest, nutrient-dense seafood — is what we know.

But during the lockdown, fresh fish wasn’t practical. People couldn’t cook elaborate meals. They needed something they could grab, eat, and actually feel good about.

That’s when we looked at the humble baby shrimp.

Tiny. Protein-packed. Naturally dried by coastal traditions for centuries. And when done right — ready to eat straight from the bag.

We spent the first months of the pandemic perfecting it. Sourcing the best wild-caught baby shrimp. Drying them slowly, without chemicals or shortcuts. Seasoning them lightly so the natural flavor shone through. Testing batches until our own families couldn’t stop eating them.

Then we put them online.

And something unexpected happened.

The Response That Shocked Us

We sold out in 72 hours.

Not because of fancy marketing. Not because of influencer partnerships. Because people were hungry for something real. Word spread through fitness groups, keto communities, busy parent chats, and office Slack channels — “These shrimp are 60% protein, zero prep, and actually taste incredible.”

Doctors started recommending them to patients needing high-protein, low-carb options. Nutritionists added them to meal plans. Parents packed them in lunchboxes instead of chips. Gym-goers kept bags in their gym bags for post-workout fuel.

During the darkest months of the pandemic, when health felt fragile and food felt like the enemy, FrySea Foods became something people could trust.

We expanded. We hired. We kept drying, testing, and shipping — even when supply chains collapsed around us. Because we knew people were counting on us.

Then due to some unavoidable circumstances, we had to pause….so we paused, and then bounced back with full energy.
